coaching philosophy

Coaching Philosophy:

I believe in creating a partnership with my team, both as a player and a coach. Good teams become great teams when they sacrifice the “me” for the “we” and if all members of the team can take on this approach, it eliminates so much room for disconnect.

It is also essential to establish a partnership with your players to best understand the communication and motivation style. It is not a “one size fits all” generation of players anymore. When you can learn how to effectively communicate with your players on a case by case basis, you will get more out of them.

I also believe in building relationships with players in regards to investing in them as human beings, not just resources to develop to achieve results on the court. As a player, when I had coaches ask me about my personal life, school, and establish ways to communicate with me outside of game strategizing and technical development, I trusted them more and wanted to perform better for them. You get out what you put in, so if you are only investing in developing a fraction of the person, then you will only see a fraction of the results.

To sum it all up:

•Establish a “we first” mentality

•Determine most effective communication strategy per player

•Invest in the person, not just the player
